Helping Haiti.
January 14th, 2010 by LizWith more and more details coming out of Haiti after the massive earthquake there on Tuesday, it’s crystal clear how much the people of Haiti need the international community’s support and aid.
There are ways we can help even from far away; the following are some examples (thanks Chris Sacca) - and some more information.
- From within the US, text “HAITI” to “90999″ to donate $10 to the Red Cross (via your phone bill).
- Visit Yele.org (run by Wyclef Jean) to donate online or text “Yele” to 501501 to donate $5 to Yele Haiti (via your phone bill).
- Partners in Health is another organization focusing on Haiti, seeking financial aid.
- To help rebuild the torn country, you might also want to donate to Architecture for Humanity.
- Learn: What caused the earthquake in Haiti on January 12 2010?
- Find out: How many people have been hurt or killed by the earthqake in Haiti on January 12 2010?
- Read up: What are some things you can do to help Haiti with disaster relief after the earthquake?
American Airlines is taking doctors/nurses to Haiti free of charge. Call 212-697-9767 for more info. Spread the word.
Unfortunately, the American Airlines flight program was just a hoax. But there are still a lot of other good ways to help!
Check out this page for a long list of charities including how to text the Red Cross and other charitable organizations:

Keep in mind that the money you donate will be charged to you cell phone bill.
poor people
i love haiti so much i sent some donations thats where i was born and every thing have a save day
Just remember to be careful about the fake organizations out there because some people try and get money and this would be a great way to earn money really fast so make sure that the money you are donating is secured and approved like Red Cross, or a trusted group first.

i love Hait so much , i pray that God will help them put together all that they have lost. God is with them and has heard their cry
where can i send children’s clothes to in hatti? i have tots of toddler shoes, clothes, toys etc.
We at Somerset Charter Schools have now started to accept Haitian students as they arrive. As you know many are not coming with clothes and supplies. We are a uniform school and many of our parents have donated their used but in good condition uniforms.
The problem is the shoes. Our students are encouraged to wear black shoes. Your Nike Classic in Black fits that bill.
Is there a way you can donate some shoes to us so we can give them out as the students arrive?
Thank you for your time and continued support for education and for children.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ruth Jacoby
Executive Dricetor of Education for Somerset Charter Schools
