*sigh* I had typed three paragraphs, but before posting I decided to log into Disqus and lost it all. Will I ever learn to at least put my posts on the clipboard before submitting, just in case? But I actually didn't know I was going to be submitting anything – thought it was just a form control, not an AJAX-enabled one with poor usability.

Anyhow, the gist of that post was that I like the variety of sources on the main site, having discovered it via Google. As for the wiki… http://xkcd.com/386/ Need I say more?

I enjoy the exercise of answering problems that actually make me go and find a proper answer, not just what was in my head. And of ocurse, of actually understanding the question!!

  12. comment number 12 by: Fugacity

I like to provide well thought out answers because I see so many stupid ones all the time and people relying on poorly researched stories from mainline news outlets for their information. I really want people to be making their decisions based on accurate information, not just opinions, innuendo, and biased theories passed off as facts. I may not be perfect in my answers, but I try to always be as close as possible – except for occasional attempts at humor.

I use reference.answers.com mostly. The way its entries combine different sources on the same page, starting with short, concise definitions and gradually working its way in greater detail onto lengthy Wikipedia articles, is nothing short of perfect. It satisfies my information needs, regardless of how much detail I need, often in a single page. What more could you ask?

Love the daily highlights, too. I hope it remains the practical tool it's proved to be in the five years or so I've been using it. It's only a pity the Find-As-You-Type feature has been disabled, it used to be better than Google's.

I like the fact that I can ask questions as well as answer them.

By the way – if you press the 'Reference' radio button in the ask bar on the top of the page, you activate the FAYT for ReferenceAnswers!

    Greetings !
Please, I am from AMAIGBO in Nwangele L.G.A , Imo State Nigeria, but whenever I google about my town, it keep telling me that AMAIGBO is in Abia State and that is not true. Kindly make a correction now , thank you. Chief Okey Ikeme.

  22. comment number 22 by: Cle711

I like the old version better than what you've done currently. It's not straightforward anymore and a lot of junk that I don't want to see. I just want my definition, or today's highlights.

I don't use it as much as I used to because it's gotten too noisy.

In your post about Phu Bai, Vietnam, you say that the Army set up there in January 1963 and the Marines arrived in 1965. My Marine Corps unit, 1st Composite Radio Co, was there from the start, and I was there in May 1963.

If you check the “Old Spooks & Spies” web site from the 3rd RRU, http://www.oldspooksandspies.org/
you will find a link to “The First Marine Boots To Hit The Ground” in Vietnam. Thanks S/Sgt. T.B. Dudley USMC

I love using Wikianswers – it really helps my knowledge when I read some of the answers and being able to answer some of the questions that people ask is brilliant fun – I've got to say my favourite thing to do is correct flagged answers – it's good to see that so many people can actually get their answers rather than a mouthful of abuse. There's some brilliant questions out there and the deserve the answers.

Thanks! Can you provide a link to the Answers.com page you were reading, where you found that?

  34. comment number 34 by: Superduty11

I really like Answers.com but I do see some upgrades that NEED to happen. When a person asks a question – including myself – you need to be able to add details. Like if you ask “Why does a bee sting get swollen?” NOTE: That's just an example. The asker needs to have a details section where they can write something like “I got stung by a bee yesterday and it is swolen. What can I do to make the pain go away and make the swelling go down?” Do you folks at WikiAnswers know what I mean? I just think that this is the only improvement that Answers.com needs. Thanks, Superduty11!

I love the concept of people from all over the world sharing knowledge, and looking for the answers they seek. I love the fact that you can ask any question you could possibly think of. I love the fact that someone will have an answer to your obscure question. I love the fact that WA actually helps people to understand the world around them. A small boy, maybe, 11 years old, he's getting bullied in school & doesn't know what to do, can seek guidence, or a girl without a mom at home asking how and why women get periods. There is very good thing about WA, in this age of impersonallity and aloofness, lack of comminucation, people can feel like they are part of a community.

I left the links for both 1st Composite Radio Co USMC and a link to “Old Spooks and Spies” who are the 3rd RRU, our Army counterparts in Phubai in 1963.

Because I am in so much pain, and I Pray. I find it hard to get through this affair that my husband had. I understand that others have also endured this same horrible pain. Although that is unffortunate, it does help me to know that I am not alone in this world, and that perhaps someone that went through this torture may be able to help me get past this feeling of doom. I keep picturing the 2 of them in sexual acts, and all of the emotions involved and it makes me feel like my entire marriage and relationship has been a lie…That there was NO love at all. I feel like he has died, but I am not able to bury him. I feel that he will continue. He will not let me view his phone bill…Treat me badly with disrespect…What do I do?

I used Gurunet too. I saw the picture of your office in Tel Aviv on CNN. It gave me goose bumps. It was so great to see a small group doing magic. As a person from a small island (Lanka), the feeling is, I wish my people too are like this.

I have a lot of info stuck in my head and, if I don't let it out from time to time, it tends to go into meltdown. It is also a way to test myself and it gives you a little kick knowing that you are helping somebody.

Well many things can be liked about answers. The fun part is taking inaccurate answers, and transforming them into answers users can use, and rely on. You can also get to know the users and work together to clean up the site.
