about us

October 28th, 2007 by Liz

We’re here to proudly proclaim that there is no such thing as a stupid answer. Or is that stupid question? No matter. We discuss questions and answers; we ask some, answer others, but mostly chat about questions and answers.

Here’s the first question:

Who are we?

We’re a bunch of Answers.com employees, WikiAnswers Supervisors, ReferenceAnswers trivia buffs, and general Q&A fans having a little fun with a blog between asking and answering.

Answers.com is the leading community-driven wiki-based Q&A site. Mouthful? We agree. Here are the facts:

  • Anyone can ask or answer questions. Even you. Now all your seemingly useless knowledge on mousetraps is handy!
  • Since the site is based on wiki-ness, anyone can improve the answer - that way, we all work on creating one correct, informational and expert answer.
  • The Answers.com community is a dedicated group of people (3,467,065+) who promote - by their own participation - the wonderful world of Q&A.
  • Our motto:

Answers.com: the world’s leading Q&A site.

or, if you’re into fun:

Answers.com: the world’s leading Q&A hotness.

Got any questions? Answers? Thoughts? Suggestions? Hunger pangs? Get in touch. Feel like reading the comics? Go for it.

I just want to express my appreciation. Today I was making a cake and discovered that we didn’t have any eggs. I found lots of egg substitutes on wikiAnswers and was sooooooooooo grateful.

    Thanks

I’d also like to express my appreciation because you guys rock! I’m in 8th grade so the teachers are a bit psycho and not very clear about where to find the answers to our homework, so this is my last (well, pretty much only) resort. Thanks!

Hello, I was surfing randomly and found this website. Have a copyright question.
When I submit information for my anwer, can I re-use my own information in other articles? Do I own the copyright to my information or do I co-own the copyright with Answers.com ? Just want to know to do the correct thing. Thank you for your time.

I don’t know where to put this comment, but here goes.
I really don’t like the new format! That’s because the ‘page down’ key on my keyboard no longer works!
PLEASE fix this. I’m on a Mac OSX, g5, using Safari.
    Thanks a million!

All of the google ads make me nauseous. Is wiki becoming another sellout? At least we still have craigslist.

    Hey Stuart,

Got your message and I definitely hear where you’re coming from. Did you know that if you are logged in to WikiAnswers, you see significantly less Google Ads? You can stay logged in all the time and that way you’re not subject to as many… Just a tip…

Sorry to rain on your parade guys - but there most definitely ARE stupid answers! In fact, there are, in the multi-dimensional space of all questions, asked and unasked, since the beginning of time, more stupid answers than wise answers. This is what gave us …. communism, nazism, superstition, human sacrifices, the inquisition, and many many more of the sorry phenomena that have accompanied mankind’s slow trek through time. To pretend that there is no such thing as stupid answers is very dangerous and counterproductive. There are, however, no stupid questions.

    Hi Chris,

The title of the blog is a gesture of… jest. We started it to poke fun of ourselves as well as have a little fun with the Q&A site… Of course, you do make a great point.

    Happy reading!

Wikianswers - there is a MISTAKE to the question Who gave the shortest presidential speech. The year is WRONG is states that George Washington did it in 1989 should have been 1789

  13. comment number 13 by: Liz

Hey Barb… by the time I go to check out the question, seems it already has been answered correctly. And that’s how quickly wiki works!

    Thanks…

Since “Wiki” has taken it upon itself to re-write Obama’s history, I will never use it again as it is no longer a credible source for true information and I will post this fact on my website for all to see

Your blurb on Hawaii being then only state growing in size seems incorrect. Alaska has the Aleutians and, as your entry on Alaska accurately says, it is in a stage of continent building:

Alaska is the largest state in the United States in land area at 586,412 square miles (1,518,800 km2), much larger than Texas, the next largest state. Geologists have identified Alaska as part of Wrangellia, a large region consisting of multiple states and Canadian provinces in the Pacific Northwest which is actively undergoing continent building. Alaska is larger than all but 18 sovereign countries.
