Guess what? WikiAnswers was the fastest growing U.S. website of 2007. If you don’t think that’s cool, then you’re also probably still wearing tweed jackets or jelly shoes… so…
Here’s an excerpt of the press release:
Answers Corporation… announced today that according to analysis using comScore data… for 2007, WikiAnswers’ unique monthly visitor count in the U.S. grew 573%, to nearly 6.5 million. This ranks WikiAnswers as the fastest growing domain of the top 1,500 in the U.S. as measured by unique monthly visitors.
The company also announced that questions on the site increased by 50% in the past three months, to over 1.5 million. In addition, registered users have topped the 500,000 mark.
“We knew that 2007 would be an extraordinary year for WikiAnswers as it kept hitting all-time record traffic and revenue highs along with all other site metrics,” said Answers Corporation Chairman and CEO Bob Rosenschein. “With User-Generated Content (UGC) sites now booming, we are thrilled with the accomplishments of our UGC site WikiAnswers and will continue to cultivate this remarkable asset.”
Wow! Go WikiAnswers. Not to mention we are right now in the middle of the first-ever AnswerThon: here’s looking at you, 2008!

Last week, Crystal announced the 1st Annual WAmmy Awards winners here on no.stupid.answers. In this season of constant awards shows, I thought I’d take a step back and explain why we at WikiAnswers wanted to show our appreciation through an online awards ceremony of our very own.
First of all, the WAmmys concept was developed by no other than Brave3, one of our most involved Supervisors. The idea was to share our appreciation so that everyone on and off WikiAnswers can see and understand all the hard work our dedicated group of Supervisors do throughout the year.
This is not your ordinary awards show, either; we’re not bogged down by writers’ strikes or heavy ball gowns. Instead, our winners wear their user names with pride as well as their own award badges.
In addition, winners got to leave their ‘acceptance speeches’ on the awards page - without having to worry about time running out!
It was a fun process to get these awards up and running, and, of course, you can see all the winners here.
Click on the names of the winners to see their bio pages and award ribbons.
Meanwhile, start racking up the answers for next year. Congratulations, all!

Happy New Year everybody!
<insert paper horn sounds here>
Let’s start the year off right and resolve to answer more questions. We can call this resolution: “More data in two thousand eight-a!” Or maybe, “It’s never too late - for answers in 2008!” Umm… what about, “Answers are great in 2008!”
Maybe a good resolution would be to stick to asking and answering and stay away from poorly rhymed slogans.
We wish you all a healthy and happy 2008, filled with all the answers you seek!

Last week we brought you the WikiAnswers Year in Review: The questions behind the news of 2007.
But what about the news we didn’t necessarily hear about in the mainstream? What about… the flip side?
Like elves around the North in December, our staff at Answers has been busy running around collecting bits of odd, bizarre news from the past year to bring you: 2007 News in Review: The flip side.
Here’s a quick look at what we’ve learned at Answers.com this crazy year:
- Anger helps you make better decisions…
- The appendix does have a purpose!
- Chinese researchers have (finally!) created fluorescent green pigs, using jellyfish DNA.
- A photographer created art from 18,000 naked people at a plaza in Mexico City.

The year 2007 brought us twelve months of gadgets, celebrities, boy wizards, and plenty of nature’s wrath. We took the liberty of reviewing the past year on WikiAnswers in the form of Q&A inspired by the biggest - and sometimes quite bizarre - news stories of the year.
We were curious what questions were asked throughout the year’s events and how the community answered them. For the full list, see the WikiAnswers Year in Review.

What are your questions from this past year?
