Wonder if I can keep this post to only 140 characters…

…nah.

Answers.com, or rather @AnswersDotCom, is hanging out with the Twitter community in Tel Aviv, sponsoring today’s 140 Characters Conference. The 140conf explores the ‘State of Now’ – a real-time look at real-time web. Speaking of real-time web – check out the conference live.

Bob Rosenschein spoke to the crowd on ‘Investing in the Real-Time Web’ earlier – take a peek (video to follow):

Bob Rosenschein addresses the audience at #140conf about sticking it out and evolving as a web start up.

April 21st, 2010 by Liz

Answers.com HoopoeIf you haven’t already read the TechCrunch article that leaked the story late yesterday, or the press release that went out this morning, well, that is why I am here to tell you about the new bird in town: the Answers.com Hoopoe.

It is a really cool project in the alpha stage. Tweet your question @AnswersDotCom and get a reply with a snippet of the answer and a link to the full page on Answers.com.

Pronunciation tip: Wondering how the chirp  you’re supposed to pronounce Hoopoe? Have the following conversation out loud with yourself -

Who goes there?”

“Edgar Allan Poe.”

Fun tip: Aside from tweeting the question with @AnswersDotCom, you can also use either #answersdotcom or #hoopoe in your tweet to get the same response.

For your entertainment: Here’s a snazzy video intro to Hoopoe.

But what are you waiting for? The real fun is directly on Twitter. Go on, tweet your question @AnswersDotCom and get your Answers.com reply instantly!

Answers.com @ #SXSWi

Can I get a “Helloooo Austin, Texas!”

Our very own Shaya (@pickleshy) is running around SXSW Interactive with tons of Answers.com gear to giveaway. If you’ve been answering @Answersdotcom‘s tweets and getting prizes for it, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t been – well, only 2.5 days left!

Shaya reported a bit on what she’s seeing and hearing at SXSW and here are a few snapshots to piece together… Oh, and the following statement that Shaya will have to explain at some point:

“Crowdsurfing sheep, flame-throwing buses, robots that play music, random random random (and ppl who call it stochasticity). Nearly saw a terrible rehashing of the super bowl Janet Jackson event during a slightly slutty soul sistas karaoke performance.”

Bag o’ giveaways in transit to Austin, Texas.

Getting the interactive on.

Lego A-burst!

Moose dude.

Answers.com sticker pole dance.

Sticker makes its mark.

The one and only Shaya!

Stay tuned for more tales from Texas later this week…
