She must be butter, because she’s on a roll!

July 7th, 2008 . by Liz

This week’s Contributor corner features Onarollcarpet, a stay-at-home-mother and joint-business owner who moonlights as a Senior Supervisor, Mentor and Category Supervisor… or is the other way around?

As a self-proclaimed addict, Onarollcarpet can be found spending countless hours splitting and merging, splitting and merging… She appreciates the fact that she can watch WikiAnswers grow daily and enjoys the company of the nice people she’s found along the way.

Find out a little more about this star contributor:

How did you originally hear about WikiAnswers?

I literally stumbled upon it with my StumbleUpon button.

What motivates you to volunteer your time to the WikiAnswers community?

What brought me here initially is the bad spelling, grammar and miscategorization.  What keeps me here is the bad spelling, grammar, miscategorization and the WikiAnswers Supervisors community!

What are your areas of expertise?

Flooring, pregnancy, food, Lupus.

What is your favorite WikiAnswers feature?

Batch Split. I love cleaning out misdirected questions and putting them where they belong. I get so excited seeing unique questions buried in the alternates that I can let free to be answered by the community. I feel like I am letting a wounded bird free to roam the open air.

What is the funniest question/funniest experience as a Supervisor on WikiAnswers?

My favorite question ever asked is How can I clean my room to surprise my mom when I am 11? It isn’t funny at all, it is just really cute and genuine. I was never like that when I was 11. I’m sure that mom will be very happy when all is said and done.

Share a random fact about yourself.

I love salsa.  It is an addiction. Fresh, jarred, any varietyn - bring it with chips and we have a party!  My dog is even named Salsa.

March 11th, 2008 . by Liz

Did you know? WikiAnswers currently has 2,471 community-grown Q&A collections; in short, there are a whole buncha topics covered on the site, and the number is constantly getting bigger.

Since March began, we’ve been finding WikiAnswers listed as a source for lots of blog posts spanning several topics. Let’s take a look:

You are what you eat…

Nutrition Q&AIf you are what you eat…does that mean I’m not actually a woman, but rather a chocolate milkshake and fries? Can you imagine what life would be like as a chocolate milkshake and fries!? I guess it might be similar to life as a woman…sweet but salty, hot and cold, crispy and smooth. That’s how life is, really.

No?

Let’s take a moment to recall the important foods that you should be eating everyday to keep your body healthy and in good working order. Proteins. Green vegetables. Fruits. Lots of water. All the major vitamins and minerals.

Besides that though…haven’t you always wondered if an apple a day really keeps the doctor away?

Or maybe you’ve wondered about things like this:

Or not.

Go ahead…ask and answer all kinds of nutrition questions on WikiAnswers now!

New widget! Get hungry! Food Word of the Day.

February 28th, 2008 . by Liz

Here’s an equation I’d like you to ponder:

Words + food + new day = get hungry every morning with a new food word every day

Not good at math? That’s ok, I’ll spell it out instead:

L-e-a-r-n a n-e-w f-o-o-d w-o-r-d e-v-e-r-y d-a-y.

It can all be yours with our brand new widget, Food Word of the Day, accessible from Facebook, our RSS listing and the Widget Gallery. Feed your Facebook profile, personal homepage or RSS reader with gourmet words and then show off when you cook dinner (or order in).

Get ready to get hungry!

Does a T-bone steak dissolve in water, Pepsi or Coca-Cola?

November 21st, 2007 . by Liz

It’s the day before Thanksgiving, and my stomach is already rumbling with excitement. Roast turkey… juicy stuffing… buttery potatoes… Since it’ll be another 24 hours before I get anything that good in my stomach, here’s a food question for WikiAnswers Wednesday:

Does a T-bone steak dissolve in water, Pepsi or Coca-Cola?

Actually, it dissolves in hydrochloric acid, which is fancy language for GET IN MY BELLY!
