What a night at Answers.com!

August 27th, 2010 by Liz

Thanks to everyone who planned, attended and ‘virtually’ participated in the Answers.com House Party last night! If pictures are any proof, it seems everyone had a great time, meeting local folks, chatting with the team, checking out the new office, getting a photo opp with the Orange Guy… and more.

Check ‘em out below… More photos in the Facebook album.

Matthew and Chris chat aside the Orange Guy.

Party people!

The virtual attendees! Wall of postcards from our fans around the world.

Phil’s obviously taking care of business.

A word from the winner:

Everyone gets a goodie bag!

Meet the team.

The faces behind the answers: You don’t see that every day. But you can see the faces behind the team that runs Answers.com!

The Answers.com Jerusalem branch went a little retro on Tuesday and held its own Picture Day. While there was no laser background for the portraits, there were plenty of life-size letters (and even a dot!) to go ’round.

Here are a few of the team photos below. For the full effect, see the album on Answers.com’s Facebook page.

The gang.

The t-shirt team.

Yeah, it’s pretty awesome.

Can I get a “Helloooo Austin, Texas!”

Our very own Shaya (@pickleshy) is running around SXSW Interactive with tons of Answers.com gear to giveaway. If you’ve been answering @Answersdotcom‘s tweets and getting prizes for it, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t been – well, only 2.5 days left!

Shaya reported a bit on what she’s seeing and hearing at SXSW and here are a few snapshots to piece together… Oh, and the following statement that Shaya will have to explain at some point:

“Crowdsurfing sheep, flame-throwing buses, robots that play music, random random random (and ppl who call it stochasticity). Nearly saw a terrible rehashing of the super bowl Janet Jackson event during a slightly slutty soul sistas karaoke performance.”

Bag o’ giveaways in transit to Austin, Texas.

Getting the interactive on.

Lego A-burst!

Moose dude.

Answers.com sticker pole dance.

Sticker makes its mark.

The one and only Shaya!

Stay tuned for more tales from Texas later this week…

Learn American Sign Language on Answers.com.

January 12th, 2010 by Liz

This has to be one of the coolest reference resources on Answers.com right now: Sign Language Videos and ASL diagrams.

Good morning in sign language

It’s a good idea to pick up a new language – so why not American Sign Language?

Learn how to say terms like ‘good morning’ on Answers.com with a diagram or a video.

You’ll know you’re doing well when you’re told good job! Or you might be a bit of an overachiever if you’re told you’re signing fast:

But if you’re getting frustrated, just calm down… It takes time to learn a new language!

There are probably a lot of people across the United States who are hoping not to use this next one anytime soon:

And for those random, obscure moments when you just need to be able to express this, well:

Your father is nice looking

For now, you’re still a newbie so you might want to be sure you know how to ask your conversation companion to ‘please repeat‘:

Please repeat in sign language

Get started ASAP: Check out the full range of sign language videos and ASL image guides. Also, check out the American Sign Language category and learn some fun facts about the Deaf community:

Hope this helps… You’re welcome.

Answers Summit Day 2: Photos, photos, more photos!

December 6th, 2009 by Liz

Day 2 of the Answers Summit featured two workshops, a panel on answer quality, an Orange Guy competition and an awards ceremony.

How do you capture all that activity in a summary? Maybe you don’t even try… But these photos from Pickleshy, Eliesheva and YourMom1108 can begin to describe the excitement, the inspiration and the fun we had at today’s events.

The rest of this week we will feature more highlights from the Summit… Meanwhile, check out the photos being posted at the Answers.com Ning fan site.
