Every big publisher on the Web wants to be able to serve up ad-friendly videos, but creating them can be a pain. But there are already plenty of high-quality videos out there in every subject imaginable. With that in mind, Answers.com has quietly launched Video Answers with about 200,000 videos from video distribution network 5min on everything from home repair and fashion tips to cars and travel.
Answers.com Videos consists of up to 200,000 videos in over 200 categories. The videos come to Answers.com from 5min Media, which has syndicated videos on the site for over a year – you’ve probably seen them in ReferenceAnswers topic pages, embedded between other content sources.
We’re pretty sure Answers.com CEO Bob Rosenschein speaks on behalf of the entire content team when he says: “Our mission is to offer answers about anything, accessible on a range of platforms and formats. 5min Media provides us the opportunity to offer answers in video form in addition to our community-generated and reference content. Now Answers.com delivers the answers best displayed with instructional visuals – like how to create ringtones for your iPhone or how to make the perfect steak.”
Answers.com‘s Bob Rosenschein was in Los Angeles last week for The Israel Conference, an annual forum bringing together entrepreneurs and business professionals from California and Israel to explore mutual opportunities.
Bob spoke at the event, discussing the culture of Israeli start ups, including much of his own experience having started up his own company there in 1999. He also took a few moments to describe ‘that company,’ otherwise known as Answers.com. Among the topics covered were the site’s mission, product and latest news, including a mobile version and instant answers on Twitter.
Check out a video taken at the conference for Bob’s full talk.
It’s one thing to read a help document on a website. It’s another thing to watch it… which is what you can now do on several help topics in the Answers.com Help Center.

The 140conf in New York City boasts a lot of speakers, but one in particular caught our eye: Caressa Cameron, Miss America 2010.
The Virginia beauty took a moment to listen to our questions and give answers about, well, questions and answers. Specifically about her experience answering questions during the pageant.
And now for something even more awesome (and probably never been done before): Flex Mathews and Kosha Dillz freestyle… for Answers.com.
These two rocked the house during the Q&A at the end of the Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee) presentation at SXSW. No end to the verbal creativity here, people. Or should I say… peeps.
Jeff Jarvis, blogger at BuzzMachine and a whole lot more, talks to Answers.com about content at SXSW Interactive about where WikiAnswers fits in the content farm discussion.
