By shorky, I think I got it.

Congrats to Sandface, who submitted quite a few Video Answers for the WikiAnswers Video Answer contest back in September – she won an Honorable Mention for this one:

What size are runt shorkies?

This video taught me a lot since before I saw it, I honestly didn’t know what a shorky was. But as we say here at Answers headquarters: Now I know.

Winners of the April 2009 AnswerThon announced!

April 30th, 2009 by Shaya

A big thanks goes out to everyone who flexed their fingers and maxed out their minds in name of knowledge this past weekend! This was the fourth AnswerThon we’ve had at WikiAnswers but only the second one without the bells and whistles for you purists out there. Since the original AnswerThon we’ve had Charity and How-To editions of this answering extravaganza…

Without further ado, the April 2009 WikiAnswers AnswerThon champions are Steven Keyman (supervisor division) and Jordang123 (standard division). Steven smoked the competition with an amazing 1,231 answers!  Second-place finishers included Aggie80, Rimshakr27, Iluvcake94, and Ananddave. Check out the full list of prize winners.

First, second and third-place winners are receiving Amazon.com gift certificates worth $500, $200 and $100 respectively. Additionally, second-place winners will take home WikiAnswers laptop bags while third-place finishers will walk away with WikiAnswers blankets. Fifty runners-up will receive WikiAnswers t-shirts.

Congratulations to all the winners, both first-time contributors and seasoned veterans!  When’s the next AnswerThon? I’m glad you asked. Sign up for WikiAnswers e-mail announcements and follow us on Twitter to be notified when the next WikiAnswers challenge is launched!

WAmmys 2008: the who’s who of WikiAnswers this year.

January 29th, 2009 by Liz

Sure, Slumdog Millionaire and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button are getting a lot of attention at the Oscars. Sure, you’ll probably grab some popcorn and watch intently to see which celebs are wearing whose gowns on February 22nd.

But none of that awards-watching will inform you of who racked up the most WAmmys this year. How else will you know which two contributors had the Answers of the Year or the Most Contributions? How will you learn which New Supervisors are this year’s stars? And what about Best How-To Answer, Best Advice Answer and Funniest Answer?

The 2008 WAmmy Awards have been voted on and doled out… And WikiAnswers is the only place to find out the who, what, and most importantly – which questions – are winners this year.

Yes, last year’s WAmmys were such a big hit that they’ve done it again… So start brushing up on your answering skills for next year! In the meantime, check out the full listing of the winners

Winners of the How-To AnswerThon announced.

November 18th, 2008 by Liz

Hope you’re ready to learn who won the How-To AnswerThon that happened on WikiAnswers over the weekend of November 7-9th. There were plenty of prizes to go around, since winners were tallied in two categories: Contributors and Supervisors.

Winners! The first place winners for those categories were Cobber43 and HisPowr4U, respectively. HisPowr4U actually made it with the top How-To answers overall. That is some powrful answering! Both those first place winners will receive $200 Amazon.com gift certificates and HisPowr4U will be getting a special prize donated by user Rudiful2. Hmm, wondering what  that will be…

Go ahead and check out the complete list of winners and feel free to congratulate them.
